Julian decided to take an aerial route in his single-minded quest to make it to the Final in the Supercar division on Easter Monday. A series of extremely gruelling and dusty heats took its toll on the Fiesta, but the Team performed their usual miracles and made sure the car took its place on the grid for the next race. This impressive experience, coupled with some most intelligent driving, enabled Julian to take his place as the sole UK entrant in the Final. Just missing out on a podium place, Julian finished an exceptional Fourth in his first European outing of the season. It’s on to Mallory Park for GB1 in the British Championship in a few weeks time, and this weekend’s outing will have done his chances nothing but good!
Petter Solberg, in his Godfrey powered Citroen DS3 Supercar, showed some blistering pace throughout the weekend. Unsurprisingly, the 2003 WRC Champion displayed his true class in his first outing following his return to Rallycross, until a puncture in the first Semi-Final put paid to his ambitions. Don’t worry though, he’ll be back!
Hearty congratulations go to Derek Tohill and his team. Derek stormed to a magnificent win in the Touring Cars category in his Godfrey powered Ford Fiesta Mk7 RWD – hats off to one of the nicest guys on the circuit and here’s to the remainder of the season!
